Protecting the Environment
Senator Carrell is committed to protecting the environment. He fought to preserve Fort Steilacoom Park, and earned funding to restore the park's historic facilities. Mike also believes we need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil by investing in renewable energy.
Supporting Education
As a lifelong teacher, Mike knows the importance of getting money to the classroom. That's why he has consistently voted for additional funds for teacher training and school construction to help reduce class size.
Making Health Care Affordable
Senator Carrell is fighting to help people gain access to affordable health care. He believes the current system is broken, and needs a major overhaul. Mike will continue working to expand access and reduce costs.
Creating More Good Jobs
Small businesses generate about 80 percent of all new jobs in our state. That's why Mike consistently supports legislation to allow these employers to grow and prosper. They not only provide tax dollars to pay for needed services, but create more family-wage jobs.
Transportation Solutions
Our transportation system is overwhelmed and commutes only grow longer. Mike supports the Cross-Base Highway and extending Highway 167. He will continue to fight for more funding for Pierce County projects.
Protecting Our Community
Mike worked across party lines to reform our criminal justice system and put sex offenders behind bars. Our communities are safer because of Senator Carrell's hard work to reduce crime and keep violent predators away from our kids.
